Common road hazards that motorcyclists encounter . . .

Motorcycling is all about maintaining tyre traction. Independent studies by motorcycle magazines indicate that many more motorcycle accidents occur than   the official figures show. This is because many of them are single vehicle accidents where the rider just looses it - all by themselves and without any help from another road user. The majority of these accidents are sparked by a road hazard of some sort. These accidents can be avoided by  . . .
  • Keeping your eyes up and looking ahead.
  • Slowing down your motorbike so that your speed appropriately matches your sight distance.
  • Understanding what constitutes a road hazard and what does not.
  • Correct application of counter steering principals to get around sudden hazards and obstacles

Below are some examples of road hazards - by no means complete. We will be adding to the gallery as time goes by.
