Motorcycling safely - a motorcycle riding program

More advanced cornering

  1. Approaching a fast curve, looking through it, counter steering and using the throttle to power the bike through the curve, legs gripping the tank. Arms bent and relaxed.
  2. Braking and choosing the correct gear before the corner.
  3. Choosing a good line through a curve with particular reference to not cutting in too early.
  4. Checking for tell-tail signs of loose material or slippery surfaces before dropping the bike
  5. Dropping the motorbike lower and lower while tipping your head in the opposite direction to allow a 'level' view of the corner.
  6. Adjusting the amount of throttle to match the available traction.
